The Golden Rule
a talk on the art of ageing creatively

How does our creativity evolve as we grow older? Georges Braque's Derniers Messages, made in his 70s, is a series of lithographs expressing an enlightened, existential spirit. Louise Bourgeois made Maman, her iconic spider installation, when she was 88.
How can we all aspire to retaining such creative energy as we age?
A collaboration with Dr Lucy Pollock, writer and geratrician, whose latest, highly acclaimed book, The Golden Rule, gives wise advise on the art of successful ageing. Lucy will be in conversation Evie Body, artist and analytic psychotherapist and Miranda Glover, founder, Whitechapel Somerset.
We'll be curating work from our collection of Modern Originals made by Braque, Bourgeois and others in their later years, to enhance our reflections.

Ida at My Table
a talk on the art of memoir writing and cooking authentic Italian food

We welcome Simonetta Wenkert, author of Ida at My Table, and famed restaurateur, to talk about the art of memoir writing and the true taste of Italy at this special afternoon event, which includes our very own Ida tasting table. White Chapel Somerset will be curated with inspirational works from the Modern Originals Collection. We will be introducing you to the breathtaking young Somerset artist Isabelle Weir with a collection of her miniature landscapes made en plein air in Florence. Tickets on sale soon.
