Joan Miró , untitled abstract, original lithograph, 1960
Joan Miró was a Spanish painter best known for his works that combine the abstract andthe Surreal. His works are energetic, even childlike, composed of abstract shapes and bold colours. Place and emotion were important to his spontaneous panting style and travels from Spain to Paris to New York influenced his work. Miró’s paintings and sculptures display his rebelliousness and contempt for the conventional creating his own unique artistic language that makes him one of the most influential artists of the 20th Century. You can see an extensive collection of his work at the remarkable Miró Foundation in Barcelona.
